Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Anioma Roots for using aniomaroots.com. Please read them with our Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Last updated: 22 October 2026

1.Who we are

Anioma Roots is run by Peter Emeka Nwaeme, trading as Anioma Roots, of 19 Community Avenue, Irawo, Lagos, Nigeria ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at peteremeka@gmail.com.

2.Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account, subscribing or using the site, you agree to these terms. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must agree to them on your behalf. They are then responsible for your use of Anioma Roots.

3.What Anioma Roots offers

Anioma Roots helps you learn the Enuani language and Anioma culture. It includes lessons, flashcards, quizzes, a proverbs library, the Know Your Name tool, and live group and one-to-one classes held on Google Meet. Some features are free; others need a paid plan. We may improve or change features over time. We will not materially reduce what your paid plan includes during a period you have already paid for.

4.Who can use Anioma Roots

Anyone can use Anioma Roots, of any age. If you are under 18, you need your parent's or guardian's consent. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up. For under-18s, we email the parent or guardian to confirm their consent before the account can be used. A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to close their child's account.

5.Your account

  • Give accurate details and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your password private. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
  • One account is for one person. Do not share your login or your subscription.

6.Plans and payment

  • Plans: Explore, Speak & Connect and Deep Roots, billed monthly or annually. What each includes is shown on our pricing page.
  • Billing: prices are in US dollars and charged in advance. Your plan renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. For annual plans, we email you a reminder before each renewal.
  • Payment processor: payments are handled by our payment provider, Bachs. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Taxes and fees: we do not add tax to our prices. Your bank may charge currency conversion or foreign transaction fees.
  • Price changes: we will email you at least 30 days before a price change. It applies from your next renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before then.
  • Deep Roots has limited places. When it is full, you cannot subscribe until a place opens, but you can join the waitlist and we will email you when one does.
  • Free access: we sometimes give free access to a plan for a set time. It ends automatically on the date shown on your Account page, and you are not charged.

7.Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your Account page, or by emailing us. New subscriptions and annual renewals have a 14-day cancellation period: cancel within it and we refund what you paid, minus the days you have used. After that, your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, you will not be charged again, and the rest of the period is not refunded. Full details are in our Refund & Cancellation Policy. If you delete your account while a plan is active, the plan ends immediately, and we refund unused days only within the 14-day period.

8.Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, we will let you know and give you 7 days to update your payment details. Paid features may pause during that time. If payment still has not gone through after 7 days, your plan ends and your account becomes a free account. Your progress is kept.

9.Live classes

  • Who can join: group classes are open to students whose plan includes them. One-to-one classes are only for Deep Roots students and are arranged with you.
  • Times: class times are shown in your own time zone. It is your responsibility to join on time using the link we give you.
  • Rescheduling one-to-one classes: you or your instructor can reschedule with at least 12 hours' notice. A class you miss without that notice is not replaced. If your instructor cancels with less notice, or does not attend, we will offer you a replacement class.
  • Behaviour: be respectful to the instructor and other students. Do not record, photograph or screenshot other participants.
  • Recordings: we may record group classes and make them available to students on eligible plans for 60 days. We will say at the start of a class when it is being recorded. You may keep your camera off. One-to-one classes are never recorded.

10.Know Your Name

Know Your Name explains the meaning of names. Many answers are written by an artificial intelligence (AI) system and may be incomplete or wrong. Treat them as a starting point, not an authority. There is a daily limit on lookups, which depends on your account type and is shown on the page. Names you look up may be saved, without being linked to you, and added to our name library.

11.Cultural content

Enuani and Anioma traditions vary between towns, villages and families. We teach with care, but our content is not an authoritative source on family history, titles, land, or legal or ceremonial matters.

12.What you must not do

  • Copy, share, sell or publish our lessons, recordings or other content.
  • Share your login, or let others use your account.
  • Scrape or bulk-download the site, or use our content to train AI models.
  • Get around usage limits, access controls or payment.
  • Harass, threaten or abuse anyone.
  • Use the site for anything illegal, or try to break or interfere with its security.

13.Our content and yours

All lessons, recordings, images, text and other materials on Anioma Roots belong to Peter Emeka Nwaeme or the people who license them to us. We give you a personal, non-commercial licence to use them while your account is open, and paid content while your plan is active. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely. We will only use your words, name or image in our marketing (for example, a testimonial) with your written permission.

14.Suspending or closing accounts

You can delete your account at any time from your Account page. We may suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, and will warn you first where it is reasonable to do so. If we close your account when you have not broken these terms, we will refund the unused part of any period you have paid for.

15.Our service

We provide Anioma Roots with reasonable care and skill. We cannot promise the site will always be available or error-free, or that you will reach a particular level of fluency.

16.Our liability

We are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before your claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

17.Changes to these terms

If we make important changes, we will email you at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then. If you keep using Anioma Roots after that date, the new terms apply.

18.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes will be handled by the courts of Lagos State. If you live in another country, you keep the consumer protections your local law gives you, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where that law allows.

19.Contact
